<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to H L Fairchild, Secretary Geological Society of America, Rochester, New York</dc:title>
  <dc:description>'Dear Sir,
In answer to your letter of the 1st inst. [instant] I have to explain that offers of exchange have to be considered by our Library Committee before they can be accepted. I was not able therefore to return an immediate answer to your communication. I have now to inform you that your proposal has been discussed by the Committee, and, with many thanks for the suggestion, the Committee cannot recommend the Council to enter upon an exchange of publications.
I am yours truly
Herbert Rix
Asst. Sec. RS [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.</dc:description>
