Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Sir William Ramsay KCB, FRS 'The Committee of the Royal Society for advising the Government on subjects connected with the War at their meeting yesterday appointed you Chairman of the Chemistry sub-Committee, with Sir Edward Thorpe as Vice Chairman, and nominated Professor Crossley to act as Secretary to the sub-Committee. The constitution of the sub-Committee is as follows:- Dr H B Baker, Dr G T Beilby, Prof A Crossley, Prof W H Perkin, Sir William Ramsay and Sir Edward Thorpe/ All the sub-Committees are to hold their first meetings here on Thursday, November 26th at 2.30.' 20 November 1914
