Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to the Secretary, Board of Agriculture 'Adverting to recent correspondence on the subject of the investigation of Swine Fever I am directed to inform you that arrangements are now almost completed for carrying out the proposed researches at the Lister Institute station at Elstree, at any rate for the present. A certain amount of preliminary expenditure is therefore necessary and I am to ask if you can be good enough to arrange for a payment on account of the sum voted for this purpose in the Estimates of the current financial year, as mentioned in your letter of March 18 (A 16985/1915). It is estimated that a sum of £1200 would suffice for the expenses contemplated during about four months from the beginning of the current financial year, and the Committee charges with the investigation above-name will be much obliged if that amount can be paid to the Royal Society to be accounted for by the Treasurer of the Society.' 14 April 1915
