Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Professor William Maddock Balyiss FRS 'I think you must have misunderstood the object of the card sent to you with reference to the long paper in four parts by T Lewis on "The spread of the excitatory process on the vertebrate heart". You state on the returned card that the paper is for Phil[osophical] Trans[actions] and should be referred to the Committee. Before the paper goes to the Committee, however, it would be advisable to have reports from two referees and I shall be glad if you will nominate two Fellows to whom the paper should be sent. It may be helpful to you to know that a similar paper by Lewis and Rothschild was referred to Dr F G Hopkins and Professor Cushny last year.' 6 July 1915
