<dc:title>Copy letter from [William Bate] Hardy, Secretary of the Royal Society and FRS; to Dr. [Thomas Renton] Elliott, FRS</dc:title>
  <dc:description>'Dear Elliott,
It will be within your recollection that the council asked the Physiology Committee to appoint a student under the Lawrence Bequest. The student must undertake research connected "with the amelioration of suffering occasioned by the war". the Committee made a recomendation, but unfortunately it has been found impossible to carry it out. I shall be much obliged if you will give some consideration to the subject again and let me have any suggestions which occur to you.'</dc:description>
