The Geology Committee have had before them Dr. [Edward Alexander Newell] Arber's paper on "The Palaeobotanical Relationships of the Carboniferous Rocks of the South Staffordshire Coalfield", and I sm directed to ask you to be good enough to bring to the author's notice the following recommendations which have been made with regard to his paper :-
pp. 81-119 should not be published
pp. 1-81 might be published subject to the following alterations :-
pp. 4-8 should be condensed - the strata referred to have been regarded as carboniferous for many years (See final report R. Com. on Coal Supplies Part III, page 1, 1905)
pp. 15-18 controversial and unpleasant in tone
p. 22 - the author states "No true Stephanian flora is known from 
 
British occurences showing the range of species.
