Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to the Secretary of the Research Department Informs the Secretary that the Government Grant Committee made a grant of £35 this year to Mr. J. [John] W. [William Heslop] Harrison, and also lent him certain apperatus for research on the hybridity in the lepidoptera and its bearing on sex determination. Notes that as the applicant is of military age the grant was made on the understanding that 'it will not be used as an argument for obtaining exemption or postponement of military service.' 9 October 1917
