Advises that the President [Sir Joseph John Thomson, PRS] and Council of the Royal Society elected him the previous week to the Foulerton Studentship of the value of £400 per year for 'reaearch on the metabolism of bacteria with special reference to fermentation processes set up by such as cause disease in man.' The Studentship lasts for three years in the first instance from 25 March 1920. The correspondent is one of the Secretaries of the Royal Society, so is either Sir William Bate Hardy, FRS, or Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS. 2 February 1920
