<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Chief Librarian, Public Library, Newcastle-upon-Tyne</dc:title>
<dc:description>In reply to the Chief Librarian's letter of 18 January, Rix is instructed by the Royal Society's Committee to explain that the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' is upon quite a different footing from the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. It is not published by the Society but by a private firm and the number of gratuitous copies presented to the Society is limited. The Committee is therefore unable to accede to the request to present a copy to the Public Library.</dc:description>
