<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society</dc:title>
<dc:description>The question of illustrations to Lord [William George] Armstrong's paper was submitted to the referees on Evans' instruction as they will certainly cost over £50. When Lord Armstrong was at the Society the other day he said that, should the question of expense arise, he would himself pay the cost rather than have any reduction in the number of illustrations. Captain Noble also volunteered the same statement. Under such circumstances Rix asks if he might proceed with the illustrations without waiting for the referees' reports. Rix's reason for asking is that Lord Armstrong has just written urging the speedy publication of his paper. </dc:description>
