Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Reverend Dr Norman Macleod Ferrers, Fellow of the Royal Society In reply to Ferrers note of yesterday, claim to priority in papers published in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' rests upon the date of recept as recorded in the Royal Society's register. To add the authors date of posting would be contrary to the Society's practice. Rix will lay the matter before the Secretaries and if they authorize him to make an exception in the case of Mr McAulay's paper, the exception shall be made. 22 July 1892
