<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Reverend Frederick John Smith, Trinity College, Oxford</dc:title>
<dc:description>Rix is instructed by the Secretaries to ask with reference to Smith's paper on ignition of explosive gaseous mixtures in closed and open vessels, whether Smith is likely to send any further communication on the subject in the near future.

Smith's paper was received in 1889, was denominated 'Part I', and the publication was deferred until 'Part II' should arrive. The Committee in coming to this decision, probably had no idea that so long an interval would have to elapse before Smith was able to send the second instalment.</dc:description>
