Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; [Robert John Strutt] Lord Rayleigh, FRS Informs Robert John Strutt of receiving 2 papers, for which referees need to be found; 'The 27-day period (interval) terrestrial magnetic disturbance' by [Aloysius Laurence] Cortie and communicated by [Charles] Chree and 'The analysis of the absorption spectrum of naphthalene vapour.-Structure and activation of the molecule of naphthalene' by Victor Henri and Henry de Làszlò, which is communicated by [Ernest] Rutherford. States Rutherford's suggestion to send the paper to [William Henry] Bragg and [Ralph Howard] Fowler, James Hopwood Jeans states a report by Bragg will be enough with [Thomas Ralph] Merton as a second referee if need be. Asks for permission to have both papers published in Proceedings in the event of favourable reports, as they are likely to be returned during the holidays. 2 April 1924
