<dc:title>Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Prof. [William Ernest]Dalby</dc:title>
<dc:description>Informs Chapman of a situation regarding the paper he communicated, 'The failure of spiral steel spring under repetition stresses' by F. C. Lea and J. D. Vaughan. After receiving a favourable report, one member of the Engineering Science Committee objected to its publication, on the grounds that it was of purely technical value, and even then doubtful, and that the experimental method was not novel. Suggests two options, to withdraw the paper from publication or to put it before the Committee with the 2 reports and any reply Dalby would like to make.</dc:description>
