Replies to Miss Evelyn Sharp's enquiries, informing her that the earliest paper read by a woman at the Royal Society was in 1826, that the certificate nominating Mrs [Phoebe Sarah Hertha Marks] Ayrton for the Fellowship to the Royal Society was never officially received so he cannot give a list of signatories, and that women frequently read papers before the Society. Replies to her last query with 'it is impossible for me to answer this enquiry and I do not feel competend even to express an opinion'. 19 June 1925
