Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor James Dewar, Fellow of the Royal Society The Royal Society has today received a notice from the Smithsonian Institution of a prize of $10,000 for a treatise embodying some new and important discovery in regard to the nature and properties of atmospheric air. As the notice is addressed to the President [William Thomson], Rix cannot let it leave the house, but it might be worth Dewar's while to visit and see it. [24 April 1893]
