Copy letter from Francis Alexander Towle, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to the Secretary, Royal Observatory, Greenwich Regarding the enquiry about Halley's visit to Hevelius, contradicts Sir Robert Ball statement that Halley was in Dantzic [Gdansk, Poland] for more than a year. Explains that had Halley been there for more than a few months, he would have witnessed the burning of Hevlius's Observatory in 1679. Confirms Halley was away from England for more than a year but states their is no evidence to suggest the majority had been spent at Dantzic. 29 October 1928
