McPike, Esq., Chicago [USA] Replies concerning Sir Robert Ball's statement that Halley was at Dantzic [Gdansk, Poland] for more than 12 months. States the time spent is closer to 2 months, as there is no correspondence of the burning down of Hevelius Observatory which took place in September of that year. Suggests Ball may have evidence and states the Astronomer Royal has also enquired about the matter [See NLB/71/769]. 30 October 1928
