<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Joseph Henry Gilbert, Fellow of the Royal Society</dc:title>
  <dc:description>'Dear Dr Gilbert,
I do not know whether Dr Foster answered your application for leave to reprint the Rothamsted Memoirs which appeared in "Phil. Trans." ['Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'] 1859, 1861, and 1883, but, as I cannot find an letter in the letter-book, I think it is well to you have written that the permission was duly granted by the Council six weeks ago. I believe I did inform you orally.
Yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'. </dc:description>
