Referring to your letter of the 5th September (R410/38), I have the honour to inform you that at the Council of the Royal Society last held, Sir John Evans, K.C.B., D.C.L., Treasurer and Vice-President of the Royal Society, was appointed to represent the Society on the Governing Body of the Imperial Institute in succession to Professor Ayrton, who retires on account of his having ceased to serve on the Council of the Society.
