  <dc:description>On 12 September 1728 Scheuchzer was travelling from Zurich to Baden in thick fog when he noticed an 'iris' of white colour - details of a white rainbow which a friend had witnessed on 9 September are given  - refers to a similar event in Oxford on 23 November 1675 by Dr Plot, which was printed in 'Philosophical Transactions'
