Referee's report by Charles Lyell and Edward Forbes, on a paper 'Observations on some belemnites and other fossil remains of Cephalopoda, discovered by Mr. Reginald Neville Mantell, C. E. in the Oxford clay near Trowbridge, in Wiltshire' by Gideon Algernon Mantell Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. The referees state that this recommendation does not assend nor dissent their respect of the differing opinion on this subject contained within a paper already published by another distinguished (and unnamed) naturalist.
