<dc:title>Referee's report by Horace Tabberer Brown, on a paper 'Contributions to our knowledge of the formation, storage, and depletion of carbohydrates in monocotyledons' by John Parkin</dc:title>
<dc:description>Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Agrees with Sydney Howard Vines [RR/14/77] that the style could be improved. A year previously, on seeing a copy of the paper, recommended to the author that it should be rewritten and remodelled, which he did. It was also revised by Harry Marshall Ward. As such, does not think there will be much improvement if it was sent back to the author. 'He has not the gift of writing'. Either the paper should be accepted as it is, or rejected, which would be a shame to reject such an interesting paper based purely on the style.
