He returns the papers herewith [not attached] and sends his own notes with them so that they may be available for the use of the Committee if wished for. He does not wish his notes communicated to the author as they are too brief and blunt, and would like them returned. He questions various assertions in the manuscripts and asks for justification on various points as well as for greater experimental detail. Though he queries particular points he does not assert if he thinks each of the papers should, or should not, be published in the Philosophical Transactions.
