Referee's report by Augustus Desire Waller, on a paper 'The interpretation of photographic records of the response of nerve obtained with the capillary electrometer' by George James Burch Sectional commitee: not stated Recommended for publication in Proceedings, in full. The paper is an attempt to physically analyse the result of effects upon the electrometer curve of the variation of 'P.D.' produced under varying conditions at any two points of a compound physiological conductor. The physiological basis of the phenomena analysed seems correctly stated. The question of whether or not a nerve can supply more than enough current to charge an electrometer without itself falling in 'E.M.F.' does not appear to belong to this paper. Agrees with the physical referee that 's' should be used for seconds. The author is writing for physiological and physical readers and should very carefully distinguish the places in the text where the words 'conductor' and 'conduction' are used in a physiological sense.
