<dc:title>Memoranda from Robert William Frederick Harrison and reply from George Carey Foster, on a paper 'On the static diffusion of gases and liquids' by Horace Tabberer Brown and F Escombe and 'On the distribution of molecular energy' by James Hopwood Jeans</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional committees: Botany and Physics

Encloses the following items: referee's reports for the aforementioned papers [not attached], the report of the botany referee is favourable. Asks if the Chairrman of the Physics Committee will say what steps should now be taken with regards to the two papers.

Foster replies on the 17th July that Harrison should proceed with the publication of Brown and Escombe. Regarding Jeans' paper he believes Lord Rayeligh [John William Strutt] has already declined to report on this, but if not, Harrison should send it to him. Failing Lord Rayleigh it should be sent to Professor J J Thomson, and failing him, Mr Burbury.
