<dc:title>Referee's report by George Ballard Mathews, on a paper 'Memoir on the theory of the partitions of numbers. Part III' by Percy Alexander MacMahon</dc:title>
 <dc:description>Sectional Committee: Mathematics

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. It brings the general problem of magic squares into direct relation with the theory of partitions and the calculus connected with it, which Major MacMahon has so effectively developed in previous memoirs. Mathews does not wish to suggest any modifications. The paper appears to be 'of great beauty & interest'.
