<dc:title>Referee's report by John Bretland Farmer, on a paper 'The origin of parasitism in fungi' by John Massee</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions in full. It is occasionally discursive but it would hardly seem worth while to insist on its being shortened. There are no illustrations.
In general the paper forms a sort of natural outcome of the work on chemotaxis, especially on the lines developed in the Leipzig Laboratory. Any contribution to the important subject of parasitism based on new specific observations would appear to justify publication.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions B, 1905].
