Referee's report by Osborne Reynolds, on a paper 'The determination of the specific heat of superheated steam by throttling & other experiments' by A H Peake Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry Reynolds thinks the paper should not be published in Proceedings. Peake has failed to notice that it is impossible for dry saturated steam to become superheated if allowed to expand without doing eternal work and without losing heat, and this is shown by the curves of his drawings.
