<dc:title>Referee's report by Richard Lydekker, on a paper 'On the evolution of the Proboscidea' by Charles William Andrews</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional Committee: Zoology

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. It might be suggested to the author that it would be more in line with modern practice if he used the name Elephas maximus instead of Elephas indicus, for the Indian elephant. All the illustrations should be reproduced. In general thinks the paper a most important and entirely new contribution to Mammalian physiology.
