<dc:title>Referee's report by David Prain, on a paper 'Longitudinal symmetry in Phanerogamia' by Percy Groom</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Suggests parts which should be published by the Royal Society, and which parts would be better suited to a botanical journal. The paper is long but intelligible. Suggests part III could be omitted, with the remainder published in the Proceedings, along with just the curves mentioned in part I. The paper does not meet the standards of being 'properly prepared as copy for press' and the illustrations less so.

Official addendum indicates that the paper as it stands would cost £160 for print and £34 for illustrations. As publications are an increasing cost for the Royal Society, it would be best to consider if the paper could be reduced.
