Referee's report by John Burdon Sanderson Haldane, on a paper 'The experimental induction of melanism, and other effects, in the geometrid moth Selenia bilunari esp' by John William Heslop-Harrison Sectional Committee: Zoology Recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London' if altered, but would prefer the opinion of another referee. Suggests omitting libellous statements regarding Mr Hughes, and 'shortening of the account of the origin of the "albino"'. Hughes heard about the libellous statements and invited Guy Anstruther Knox Marshall and John Claud Fortescue Fryer, to view his moths, but the author refused to visit. Refers to Thomson, Lemcke, Sinnott and Dunn, who could also find the paper libellous, as it stands. As a colleague of the author, admits he may be biased, and suggests an independent referee be sought.
