Referee's report by Robert Robertson, on a paper 'Estimation of the combustion products from the cylinder of the petrol engine and its relation to "knock"' by Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton, F Ll Smith and Alfred Rene Jean Paul Ubbelohde Sectional Committee: Chemistry Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Paper presented as three parts, but will deal with them as a single unit. The third part states that a further part is in preparation. Suggests the three current papers be condensed into one single paper, with the final part to follow. This would create a more coherent narrative across the papers. The detailed experimental descriptions are necessarily so. The choice of experiments is ingenious, and th conclusions 'go a long way toward settling the cause of knock'.
