<dc:title>Referee's report by James Colquhoun Irvine, on a paper 'On the association of xylan with cellulose in certain structural celluloses' by A G Norman</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional Committee: Botany

Not recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. 'For years I have struggled to guide these biochemical cellulose chemists and get them to work on better lines, but I am sorry to see that the influence of the Madison School has laid firm hold on this country'. Suggests the paper might be sent to the Biochemical Journal, where W G Campbell has published similar work. The experimental work is amateurish, and lacking in statistical analysis.
