<dc:title>Referee's report by Alfred Harker, on a paper 'The Royal Society expedition to Montserrat, B. W. I. - The volcanic history and petrology of Montserrat, with observation on Mt Pelé, in Martinique' by A G MacGregor</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Sectional Committee: Geology

Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. 'The mass of field-observations is rather overwhelming to the ordinary reader; but since a detailed survey was presumably the object of the Expedition, I do not suggest any abridgement'. The applications and petrographic discussion are valuable. The 'distinction between fact and hypothesis is kept clear'.
