Referee's report by Thomas Smith, on a paper 'A contribution to the theory of the Foucault test' by E H Linfoot Sectional committee: Physics Not recommended for publication by the Royal Society. The paper is clearly written and records a careful investigation. However, the subject matter seems to be of 'limited technical interest'. It will only be of interest to a small number of optical workers who can understand the mathematical work. He hasn't checked the mathematics fully, but it seems to be correct.
