Referee's report by Cyril Norman Hinshelwood, on a paper 'The thermal decomposition of normal paraffin hydrocarbons' by C G Silcocks and Morris William Travers Sectional committee: Chemistry Paper reference code: A175 Not recommended for publication. Hinshelwood notes that 'The paper contains an attack on my laboratory so I may be taken to be an interested party'. Suggests the Society seek further referees, but nevertheless provides detailed criticism of the paper. Concludes by saying 'The whole thing is a hopeless muddle'. [Published in Proceedings A, 1954].
