<dc:title>Referee's report by George Biddell Airy, on a paper 'On some recent improvements made the mountings of the telescopes at Birr Castle' by Lawrence Parsons, 4th Earl of Rosse</dc:title>
<dc:description>Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' with hesitation. Wonders if the Royal Society is the right place for publications relating to machinery, although precedent has been set by an earlier papers relating to William Herschel's reflector and the telescope at Birr Castle. Will leave the decision as to the status of such papers to the President of the Royal Society. If the paper is printed, the illustrations should be reduced in size.
