Refuses to withdraw the paper. Sends a reply to the referee's comments [see RR/W/6/53]. Argues that the comments are 'more psychological than scientific'. Provides an account of how the results were obtained and insists on their validity. Rebuts position of 'Appleton and others' on wave theory.
