<dc:title>Letter from Thomas Gold to Dr G Oertel, Head, Astronomy Section, National science Foundation, 1800 G Street, Washington DC</dc:title>
<dc:description>Explains he will be away from Cornell on a leave of absence, until next May, as he is taking up a visiting Luce professorship at Mt. Holyoke college for the academic year.

States he will continue to work with students and research associates at Cornell during that time, on problems covered by the two NSF grants with which he is associated. Will visit Cornell sufficiently often during that time so that there will be no interruption in such work.

Regrets he did not have the opportunity of seeing him at Cornell. Hopes he will visit Cornell nevertheless and have a chance of speaking to Professor Saltpeter about their work in theoretical astrophysics and solar system problems.

Gold will shortly send him a preprint of their latest work (under the solar systems grant ) on the magnetization of the Moon and Mercury. </dc:description>
