<dc:title>Letter from Thomas Gold to Mr Ernest A Lynton, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Massachusetts, Office of the President, One Washington Mall, Boston, Massachusetts</dc:title>
<dc:description>Thanks him for his very kind letter concerning the offer of the Alvan Clark Professorship at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He feels very honoured by this offer.

He is at present a visiting professor (Henry R Luce Professorship) at Mount Holyoke College, and is using the opportunity this creates for him to get to know U.Mass and in particular the Physics and Astronomy Department there. The excellent work in Astronomy that has been carried out there is of course well known to him. On the basis of a closer acquaintance he will be able to make a decision.</dc:description>
