<dc:title>Letter from Thomas Gold to Mr SIto, Director, Asahi Optical Company Ltd, Maenotyo 2-36, Italbashi-Ku. Tokyo, Japan</dc:title>
<dc:description>In June Alex Boden visited Ito and reported to him on Gold's stereo camera to be used on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The camera was a success and led to a major discovery concerning the lunar surface. He is interested in other applications of the camera, particularly medical applications. Suggests it could be used by surgeons during operations and suggests other uses. Summarises opinions of surgeons he has talked to. Has an outline for a design. Feels confident that there would be a market. Kodak who developed the camera think only in terms of popular market, neither they nor NASA have proprietory rights. Asks if Ito would be interested in taking up this field, would be willing to visit. Sends a sample medical picture and is also asking the science editor of the ASAHI SHIMBUN to write to him.</dc:description>
