<dc:title>Letter from Thomas Gold to Dr William MrElroy, Director, National Science Foundation, 1800 G Street, N.W., Washington DC</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Marked 'Confidential'.
Now that he has firmly decided to withdraw before long from the Arecibo organization responsibilities, he is commenting privately on how much of a disaster Owen has been. Is afraid he will damage other organisations as he has damaged Arecibo. Shame he could not get George Vineyard into that job. Or someone else who has good understanding for good science. Eighteen months ago Mr Elroy asked to be kept informed in these mattes, so he feels that this very widespread sentiment should come to his notice.</dc:description>
