Spouse: Hilda Margaret (d. 1964), daughter of David Alexander Maxwell, and widow of James Ffolliott Darling (1933). Noted for this expertise on weevils (Curculionidae). Rhampholeon marshalli, a species of African dwarf chameleon is named after him.
