Spouse: Stina Bergöö, daughter of Adolf Bergöö of Stockholm, and sister of the Swedish artist Karin Bergöö Larsson (1896). Children: One daughter and two sons. He was particularly interested in Echinoderms, especially the Pelmatozoa; specifically the Crinoids. He reviewed fossil invertebrates generally and published papers on Cephalopoda and Brachiopoda, as well as on general biology and geology.
