Parents: William George Searle (1829–1913), vicar of Oakington, and Harriet Susan, formerly Theobald. Spouse: Alice Mary Parsons, daughter of Thomas Edwards, solicitor (3 September 1904). Remembered for Searle's bar method and contributions to investigation of electromagnetic mass.
