Engineer Hydraulics Mechanics Engineering Education: Queen's College, Cambridge (BA); McGill and Queen's University, Canada (MA; DCL) Career: Began working at the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board in Liverpool and became an assistant engineer; professor of civil engineering and applied mechanics at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and developed the Engineering Faculty (1877); Rector of Imperial College (1907-1909).
