During the 1650s and 1660s, he became acquainted with multiple well-known figures of scholarship and natural philosophy, Robert Boyle (FRS 1660), John Wilkins (FRS 1660), as well as John Evelyn (FRS 1663) and William Brouncker (FRS 1660).
