Honours: Kt 1964 His wife, Iris Mary Harmer, MB, B.Chir., MRCP won first class honours in natural science tripos at Cambridge, and did outstanding clinical research at University College London, under Sir Thomas Lewis. Their joint publications in 1926 and 1927 provided some of the first experimental evidence for the release of histamine-like substances in the human skin in response to injury.
