Secondary School and Technical Institution (1918-1924); Manchester University, Honours School of Chemistry, Bsc in chemistry (1927), Graham Colloid Laboratories, MSc properties of organosols of nickel (1928), PhD plastein formation (1931) Career: Assistant Lecturer in Biochemistry, University of Liverpool (1931); Physiology Department at the National Institute for Research in Dairying at Shinfield, Reading (1932-1970, head of Department from 1945); Suffered attacks of tuberculosis. Vision detriorated from 1946, almost completely blind from 1959 following an unsuccesful operation.
